Re: Stereo

\RickardMk3 preface console removal + Double din fitting (pic heavy!!)
The following is a bit of a guide on how to remove a prefacelift centre console. I have also included how I fitted my double din HU as too many people say it cant be done in a preface motor. Oh yes it can!!!
Tools required:
Radio removal keys
Phillips screwdriver
Dremel type tool
Masking tape
String
Start by removing the head unit. Release keys in either side will release it, pull it out, make a note of what connections are what (there are on a factory head unit, power, aerial, speakers and remote stalk), disconnect and remove headunit. Will look like this: Secondly, remove your gearknob. On a preface they have a lift up reverse which is spring loaded. As the gearknob comes undone, lift off carefully as the spring is still under tension. Store knob and spring somewhere safe. You don’t need to remove the lift up collar.
Next, remove the centre console side trim panels. There is a screw in the footwell end. The other end is just clipped in Next remove the gearstick gaiter and surround. Its located by some small yellow pins and just pulls out with a little care. The top of the gaiter has an elasticated collar, so will just pull over the lift up collar to enable complete removal. Should be looking something like this now Next step is to remove the switches from the centre console. You should be able to reach down behind them and push them out of the console from behind. Before removing the connectors, I used masking tape to label them so I didn’t get mixed up (There will be the boot release, heated screens and hazard and airag telltale and depending on model, ESP & heated seats). The cupholder WILL NOT come out. Its screwed to the console from behind so that’s stays attached until the console is out. Again, store all switches safely. Now its time to remove the screws. There are 2 inside where the radio was, one either side There are 2 either side of the centre console And the most awkward 2 are tucked right up under the bottom of the console There are also two further up the console, one behind the hazards switch and one behind the heated screens switch Once this lot is removed, its time for the centre console to start coming out. I found it easiest to start working from the bottom up, for reasons that will become apparent. The console is held in by some fairly meaty clips at the top and at this point, the clock and climate/aircon bits are still connected. The framework around the gearstick is quite flexible and will push down to allow you to pull the bottom of the console panel forward, over it You might find it helpful to loosen the whole of the centre console. 3 8mm bolts in the armrest storage and a screw under the cig light bit Once that's done, you should now have enough room to get in behind the panel and disconnect the elctrical connections to the aircon unit and clock. The aircon bit has one of those funny folding clamp affir type connections. That had me stumped for a couple of mins! Once they are disconnected, its time to be brave! As mentioned, The console is held in by some fairly meaty clips at the top. These are the bugger: To release the centre console, its needs a fairly strong pull in a forward and downward direction (diagonally down toward the gearknob is probably a good description) to release them. You wont break them, just be careful. Once they are out, carefully remove the console, watching and being careful of the still attached cupholder at the bottom. You should now have you centre console out. Well done. Time for a brew and a biscuit.

Re: Stereo
Fortsättning...
\RickardIf you are fitting a double din hu, remove the cupholder and aircon unit and clock (all just screwed on)
I fitted an Alpine IVA-W202Ri to mine. In comparison, you can see it's a big bigger, not much though. Get the cage for your h/u and measure where you need to cut on the black plastic within the radio cutout on the console. I used a dremel type tool with a cutting blade. It will need trimming. I found it easiest to take it down to the bottom edge as it’s a bit awkward to cut in this area (you’ll see what I mean if you try)
There is a flap of plastic that separates the H/U and the aircon unit which I neded to cut to allow the cage to fit properly Cut small amounts at a time and keep checking. Eventually the cage will fit. Mine looked like this Once fitted and your happy with it, use the locking tabs on the cage to lock it into place Time for another brew and another biscuit!
Once you are happy, refit the clock, aircon unit and cupholder to the console. Before refitting the console, I tied lengths of string round all the swith connectors and threaded the bits of string through the appropriate holes on the console (only did it for the upper switches as it was a complete pain trying to get them when I put the console back on first time! This method means you just pull the bit of string and the connectors appear! Before clipping the colse back in, reconnect the clock and aircon connections. Push the clips back in at the top and guide the cupholder back in at the bottom. Refit everything else. Should now look like this: Sort the wiring out for your new head unit, connect and test. When happy, fit your head unit. Be tidy with the wiring as there isnt too much room behind there.
Enjoy you double din H/U!! Some work will probably be needed to make it look neat round the edged. The trim that came with mine wouldn't fit when I had the H/U mounted at the depth it is. Several people on here have built custom surrounds to make it look neater. The Guv did a good one, some pics can be seen here
Hope this helps guys. Any questions, get in touch!!

Re: Stereo
Jag hade satsat på en enkeldin för att kunna ha ett fack under o kunna lägga mobilen =)
Där kan man exempelvis stoppa i en laddare för trådlös laddning.
